Account Managers

 

The ideal candidate has 7 – 10 years PR/agency experience, is a smart, dynamic, creative communications strategist who understands public relations tools and marketing. A seasoned professional with exceptional writing, editing and verbal presentation skills; a proven track record with communications media including print, broadcast, online, collateral, AV, social media, and account planning and management experience. We seek someone who is passionate about public relations and communications.
 

Job Responsibilities:

• Management of multiple clients and contribution at a senior level to agency management. Identifies agency/client opportunities and problem areas proactively; effectively recognizes and contributes solutions for campaigns and agency product development.

• Accountability for protecting and growing business base of existing clients profitably. Plays a lead role in developing and preparing new business presentations.
 
• Is a highly effective team leader/builder. Provides guidance and counsel to junior members. Manages account teams and resources toward profitability and ensures deadlines are met; clients are satisfied; and long-term relationships secured. Maintains rigorous quality control over own and team’s work product.

• Development and direction of public relations plans and programs, including setting objectives; providing strategic counsel; developing creative campaign concepts for agency clients including media and online relations, supervision and execution. This position also requires hands-on implementation.

• Oversight and delivery of profitable and cost-effective results/ROI for clients.

• Current and deep knowledge of today’s dynamic media and communications landscape. Spots changes and trends early and adapts programs accordingly.

• Develop social media and content marketing programs including content strategies, writing and analytics.

• Execution of every function relative to successful client/agency relationships.


Job Requirements:

• BS/BA in a discipline related to Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing or Journalism.

• 7-to-10 years of PR/agency experience in preferably two of the following sectors: health/wellness, technology, and/or consumer lifestyle.

• Outstanding writing, editing and presentation skills.

• National pitching experience with demonstrated results

• Proven ability to think creatively and develop interesting pitch angles and campaigns.

• Team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment but can also work autonomously

• Sound judgment, exceptional organizational skills, consistent attention to detail and prioritization of deadlines; ability to multi-task and juggle deadlines

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people

• Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff

Sr. Account Executives

 

The ideal candidate has 4 – 6 years PR/agency experience, is proficient in PR and social media best practices and knowledgeable in two or more of the following sectors: technology, health & wellness, consumer lifestyle and travel & leisure. Must have exceptional writing and editing skills, be detail oriented and reliable. The Sr. AE is a key team player and a member of the account team. The Sr. AE has mastered all public relations functions such as writing, editing, working with the media, strategy development, cost-effective delivery of programs, and client/account management.

Job Responsibilities:

• Campaign implementation both strategically and proactively as well as management (including setting timelines, detailed implementation tactics, and identifying and executing on media opportunities).

• Overseeing multiple accounts and proactively developing strategic pitches that deliver key messages.

• Writing plans to include objectives, strategies, creative approach, detailed implementation and budgets.

• Day-to-day direction and management of account team, which includes the account executive and account coordinator while keeping supervisor apprised on program status.

• Ability to develop and maintain a highly effective relationship with the client, and serves as the primary day-to-day client contact.

• Able to deliver cost-effective programs and results while maintaining a profit for the agency.

• Writes bylines, white papers, press kits, blogs, social media posts and articles for clients and agency with minimal supervision and editing.

Account Executives

 

The AE is a key team player and member of the account team. The AE has mastered all the basic public relations functions such as writing, editing, working with the media, strategy development and cost-effective delivery of programs.

Education and Experience:
• 2-4 years of PR agency experience required.
• Journalism, Communications, or English degrees preferred.

 

Requirements:
• Experience creating campaign plans, setting timelines, determining material needs, managing implementation budgets, selecting suppliers, and organizing all aspects of campaign delivery.
• Experience planning and managing media interface through target media research, key message development, result-oriented pitching, and supervising interviews.
• Experience managing database development, distribution, and account admin work.  
• Excellent writing and presentation (written and verbal) skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong research skills and knowledge of research tools.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point.

PR Trainees

 

The PR Trainee is expected to be a team player and support the Account Team in varying responsibilities. He/She has an understanding of all basic client/agency functions and is a team player and takes ownership of all work assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Contributes to account planning efforts by performing daily administrative and PR support functions, takes responsibility for assignments and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
• With direction from the account team, coordinates effective PR program implementation.
• Works closely with the account team to ensure all materials - including presentation, press materials, and reports - are of high quality, delivered on time and are within budget.
• Good basic hands-on skills are required in PR methods including: media relations, maintaining media lists, monitoring/maintaining editorial calendars, researching, preparing client presentations and activity reports.
• Write and/or distribute materials including pitch letters, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, bios, and prepared activity reports.
• Must be able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and be able to prioritize assignments.

Education and Experience:

• Solid PR/Marketing agency experience required (four to six months of PR internships or PR agency work experience).
• Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or English degrees preferred.

Requirements:

• Understanding of and interest in public relations, media and communications.
• Excellent writing and presentation (written and verbal) skills.
• Strong research skills and knowledge of research tools.
• Strong work ethic and project management skills.
• Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and maintain grace under pressure.

Interns - Accredited Internship Program

 

The internship program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to learn about PR and the supporting operations of Graham & Associates, Inc. Candidates will be responsible for assisting with marketing and PR media activities.  Must be able to interact in social media and communications environments. Exceptional computer, writing, and communication skills are required. Analytical, pro-active, investigative mindset is a plus.

 

Eligibility: Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited US university or college with a sophomore, junior or senior classification. English, Journalism, Public Relations or Communications majors will be given priority. The internship program must be for college credit. 

   

General Information: This is an unpaid internship. Interns are expected to work between 16 and 20 hours a week during the internship period. Interns must receive academic credit from the intern’s college or university.  All interns are subject to the applicable Graham & Associate, general rule of conduct. 

 

Internships are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

 

Fall (October – January) - Application Deadline: September 15th.
Spring (February – May) - Application Deadline: January 15th.
Summer (June – September) - Application Deadline: May 15th.

Freelance Public Relations Content Writers/Editors

 

The ideal candidate has 3-to-5 years of professional writing and editing experience in preferably two of the following sectors: health/wellness, health IT, education, and technology. Functions well in a fast-paced environment, is creative, edits with a high level of detail and accuracy, and has a proven track record with content writing projects such as byline articles, contributed blog posts and whitepapers. A published track record is preferred. Ability to identify compelling topics based on trends and client goals, conduct interviews, create article abstracts and write to abstract and publication guidelines with very little editing of own work required. Well-versed in AP and Chicago Style Manual best practices. Demonstrated track record editing own as well as other team member's written work. Previous public relations writing experience is a strong plus.
